Playbix

Age ratings explained

Last updated 11 August 2026

Every listing on Playbix carries a content rating. Here is what each one means, who decides it, and what it does not tell you.

The ratings

Everyone

Suitable for all ages.

No violence beyond slapstick, no frightening imagery, no bad language, no gambling themes, no user-to-user chat.

Everyone 10+

Suitable for ages 10 and over.

Mild cartoon or fantasy violence, mild rude humour, minimally suggestive themes. Nothing realistic or bloody.

Teen

Suitable for ages 13 and over.

Moderate violence, infrequent strong language, suggestive themes, simulated gambling with no real money, or unmoderated chat between users.

Mature 17+

Suitable for ages 17 and over.

Intense or realistic violence, strong language, references to drugs or alcohol, or mature themes throughout.

Adult content is not permitted at all

There is no rating above Mature 17+ on Playbix because sexual content is prohibited outright by our Content Policy. Hosting adult material brings age-verification and payment-processor obligations a small store cannot meet responsibly, so we do not accept it rather than accepting it badly.

Content sexualising minors in any form — including drawn or animated — is reported to law enforcement, without exception.

Who decides a rating

The developer selects it when they create the listing, and a reviewer checks it before the app is published. We are not an accredited ratings body like PEGI, ESRB or IARC, and we do not claim to be. A Playbix rating is our judgement, not a certification.

A wrong rating is grounds for removal. If you think something is rated incorrectly, tell us — pick "Misleading listing".

What a rating does not tell you

Ratings describe content. They do not describe:

  • What the app can access. Every listing shows the permissions read from the app file itself — camera, location, contacts. Check those separately; an Everyone-rated app can still ask for your microphone.
  • What data it collects. See our data safety page.
  • Whether it contains ads, or links out to the web.
  • Whether other players can contact your child. Apps with unmoderated chat are rated Teen or above, but a rating alone will not tell you how chat is moderated.

For parents

Playbix has no parental controls of its own, and I would rather say that clearly than let the rating imply protection it does not provide. If a child uses the device:

  • Use Android's own controls — a supervised account, or Family Link — to control what can be installed. Those operate at the operating-system level and cover every source, not just us.
  • Remember that installing from outside Google Play requires granting an install permission. Leaving that permission switched off is an effective control in itself, and our installation guide explains how.
  • Check the permissions list on a listing before allowing an install.

Developers publishing apps aimed at children must comply with COPPA, the UK Age Appropriate Design Code and equivalent law: no behavioural advertising, no unnecessary data collection, and a parental gate before purchases or external links.

Accounts and age

Playbix accounts are for people aged 13 and over. You do not need an account to browse or install anything — only to leave a review or publish an app. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle data from young users.
